Building a sanctuary

A shelter is not a place for hand me down, it is not just a place to donate and earn good deeds, it is not a second option. It is a home to a lot of animals, who find a place of solace, recovery and love here. While their actual home, the street they came from, or the people they lived with cannot be replaced but we make new memories everyday.

Initially it is indeed difficult, they feel scared, uncomfortable, insecure of other dogs but the love and food work the magic through their hearts and brains to build a new life in their new home with the best the world has to offer and not just leftovers.

This is what we believe at APE Life, while medicines, food, clothes can be used, and saved from wastage otherwise if in good condition, But building a beautiful and comfortable place with all amenities is as essential for the basic living standard. And it happens only with financial resources.

We all strive to earn more, to fulfill our basic needs, reach a certain living standard and entertain ourselves in multiple ways. Although, the dogs are used to natural conditions, but the natural premise holds a lot of mental stimulation with so many things to watch, places to explore, people to know and a territory to protect. While at the other hand, a sanctuary has to be built to induce that level of mental stimulation for them, staying in a limited space all their lives with constant insecurity of new ones walking into their territory all the time.

Maybe if they were ok, they would have managed but here they are dependent on humans in an unnatural space that demands more build and maintenance to help the dogs live healthy, happy and safe, not sick, bored or being caught into dangerous situations like jumping over the wall, touching a wire, standing in water, panting in summers, shivering in winters, hitting a sharp object, trying to run away on to the highway or being attacked by another dog, a never ending list.
