Bansuri, The Coffee Calf

Bansuri & Krishna were recently impregnated by the person assigned to be their caretaker. On first enquiry, he denied ever doing so and on second he again lied that a doctor came and did it. The very thought that she was tied and someone inserted their hand into her and injected her just to make her pregnant. I was devastated.

On further enquiry, someone else confirmed that the doctor never came. She was rather tied outside the gate for a bull to ride over her. That is not consent. That is rape. And it was all done by the person who has been assigned to take care of her.

I do not know if she wanted it or not but being tied by a rope is not consent. It is not natural. And the fact that it happened to her has haunted me for days now.

It was just yesterday when I got her from the streets to our home, her home. I named her after Krishna’s bansuri. I was to protect her but I could not make a man understand that she is not a milking machine. It is ok if she is on heat and it does not mean she needs to be impregnated right away.

I have seen her play and jump around. She would drink from my cup of coffee, lick it off till the end.

But will she ever speak? Bansuri did not opt for any of this that happened to her. She was like another child, jumping playing goofing around. She is not meant to be used but live however she wants to.

And countless like her are raped everyday. If only everyone in my family had said no to milk, noone would have dared to do this to her. Noone would dare to use her. But this is society. And this is extreme for the society.

Alas the innocence was lost in the reaches of the human society and I could not save her even with my morals ethics value thoughts words or what I did was not enough.
